MORE about stuttering

Stuttering or stammering is a serious problem that leads to complete or partial inability to verbal communication, accompanied by problems in social life, depressions and discrimination.

About 80 million people are directly affected by stuttering. It is a global problem that covers an average of 1% of the planet's adult population and 5% of children aged 2 to 5 years. Although observed everywhere without a direct link to nationality or economic development, stuttering or stammering negative effect is particularly pronounced in emerging countries, where stuttering people are more often discriminated against. All concerned are not only the people who have stuttering problem, but also the people around them - family, friends, colleagues - which makes their number difficult to calculate, but it’s tending to billions.

  1. About 1 in 20 children ages 2 to 5 will develop some stuttering during their childhood. It may last for several weeks to several years.

  2. While some will recover by age 7 or 8, 1 out of every 100 children will be left with long-term stuttering. Stuttering is more common in boys than girls. It also tends to persist into adulthood more often in boys than in girls.

  3. More than 80 million people worldwide are stutterers -- that's one in every 100. In the US, more than 3 million people stutter, 6 million in EU, 45 million in Asia

Stuttering is often underestimated. It is not just a repetition of words or syllables. In most cases, it is a serious problem for the stuttering person and their environment. The more severe forms of stuttering result in systemic blockages and complete or partial inability to verbally communicate. Those affected are often ridiculed and discriminated against. This leads to psychological distortions, severe depression, abandonment of social life and even suicide attempts. Stuttering leads to problems in finding a job, inability to work in some professions, problems with education, etc. People who stutters have serious difficulties with verbal statements at school, conversations with strangers, over the phone, presentation to the public, job interviews, communication with potential partners, and more.

In many cultures, society sees people stuttering as those with a delayed development or inferiority. This is completely contrary to reality, which shows that with rare exceptions in which the problem is related to other more serious diseases, the stuttering people are healthy and intelligent. Even those with very severe stuttering, following the implementation of our comprehensive program, continue their education and are fully realized in their professional and personal lives. They become teachers, professors, lawyers, work in call centers and even as air traffic controllers.

There are many different theories about what causes stuttering, but there is no consensus on the subject, nor there is a globally applicable stuttering or stammering solution, which is what we are offering. Western cultures have developed a movement for tolerance of stuttering as a different form of expression. Although it reduces the negative impact of the environment, this view also has an adverse effect. Stuttering people are deprived of the hope that they will ever overcome their problem, isolate themselves, and give up their efforts to achieve smooth speech.

Existing schools and their respective treatment centers apply different methods and techniques to achieve more or less complete results. The common thing between them is:

They are based and operate in advanced countries.

They have a limited capacity, which is insignificant compared to the millions in need.

The cost of therapy for a period of 12-30 days is between $ 2500 US and $ 5000 US. The total value of traditional weekly visits to a speech therapist is several times higher for the period of several years during which the therapy continues. This makes them inaccessible to the majority of the needy, especially the vulnerable groups.

In emerging countries, stuttering therapies are almost absent. In some cultures, the pressure from the environment is extremely strong and has serious negative effects.
